Almonds (scientifically Prunus dulcis) are the most cultivated tree nuts globally and hold a status of “superfood” royalty in Indian culture. Known as Badam, they are technically the edible seeds of a drupe—a fruit similar to a peach or cherry, where the fleshy outer layer is discarded to reveal the prized nut inside a hard, woody shell.
